AutoPilot is a new enhancement in OnCall Air that streamlines and automates your quoting process, helping you:

  • Save valuable time when building proposals

  • Pre-package accessories for any equipment matchup—regardless of type, brand, or whether it's live or custom.

  • Establish a consistent, repeatable sales process for you and your team

  • Automatically recommend products and services on every quote

  • Minimize the risk of missing accessories or add-ons

The article below provides a brief overview of AutoPilot.

Additionally, we have created this video that offers a walkthrough of AutoPilot.

AutoPilot Rule Creation

Let’s look at the key components involved in creating an AutoPilot rule:

Rule ID

The Rule ID is an auto-generated identifier used to distinguish each AutoPilot rule. It cannot be edited.

Rule Name

The Rule Name is the label you assign to your rule. Consider adopting consistent naming conventions to make it easier to organize and manage your AutoPilot rules.

Conditions & Operators

Conditions define the criteria that must be met for a rule to apply.

Operators specify how the condition is evaluated.

Below are the available condition types and their operator options, along with examples.

System Type

This condition refers to the system type selected in OnCall Air (e.g., Split AC + Air Handler, Split Heat Pump with Air Handler etc.).

  • Available operators: In, Not In

  • Example: The rule below targets systems in the "Split AC with Air Handler" and "Split Heat Pump with Air Handler":

Condensing Capacity

This refers to the capacity of the condensing unit within the system type. Condensing units include air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless outdoor units, and packaged units.

  • Available operators: Greater, Less, Equal, Not Equal

  • Example: The rule below targets any condenser with condensing capacity less than 3 tons, meaning it does not include 3 Ton units.

Heating Capacity (BTU)

This is the heating capacity of the system’s heating component (Furnace or boiler).

The BTU's are represented in thousands. For example, 90 would be equivalent to 90,000 BTU's.

  • Available operators: Greater, Less, Equal, Not Equal

  • Example: The rule below targets heating systems with capacity greater than 80,000 BTUs

Brand

This condition filters based on the brand of the equipment in the system.

  • Available operators: Equal, Not Equal

  • Example: The rule below targets systems with the brand equal to "Carrier.". If any components of equipment are associated with the brand Carrier, the rule will fire.

Tier

This refers to the equipment tier (e.g.,Infinity, Evolution) of the equipment.
Note: Custom equipment does not support tiers.

  • Available operators: Equal, Not Equal

  • Example: The rule below targets systems with tier equal to "Infinity."

Model Number

This is the model number of the equipment.

  • Available operators: Equal, Not Equal, Starts With

  • Example: The rule below targets model numbers that start with "GSXN4."

Actions

The actions currently available for AutoPilot are Including and Recommending accessories. You can include and recommend accessories by clicking the respective buttons and adding your desired accessories.

Example:

Based on the rule below, whenever the system type is "Split Heat Pump with Air Handler," the brand is Carrier, and the tier is Infinity, the system will include a equipment pad, Ecobee3 thermostat, and heater kit, and it will recommend the Porch Labor Warranty and a UV light.

Now let's see how this AutoPilot rule is applied while building a consultation.

Proposal App (AutoPilot)

While building a consultation, select your desired bundles and navigate to the Accessories tab.

In this tab, you’ll find a new section called AutoPilot, which displays the rules that triggered for each proposal option.

At the top of the AutoPilot section, you’ll see the rules that applied to each system within the proposal.

Further down, you’ll find the accessories that were recommended by those rules.

By default, all accessories are selected.

You can review the recommendations for each system and deselect any accessories you don't want to include or recommend. When you're finished, click 'Add All Selected' at the bottom to apply them to the proposal options:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What happens if two rules are applied to a system that include or recommend the same accessory?

In the situation where there are two rules that add or recommend the same accessory, only one version of that accessory will be added or recommended to the system.

Are the AutoPilot rules applied to Flexjobs or 'Accessory only' proposals?

No, the AutoPilot conditions & rules are only applied to equipment bundles (both live & custom).

How are AutoPilot rules sorted ?
AutoPilot rules are sorted alphanumerically in the Office & on the accessory tab while building a consultation.
