Before we get started, let's go over the main components of building a proposal. This article will briefly introduce the components, show you what they look like when building a proposal, and then show you how these components look on a customer's presented proposal.  More information and examples will be found in the respective tutorial for each individual component.

A proposal comprised of 4 main components:

  • Equipment

  • FlexJobs

  • Accessories

  • Installation items

Equipment

This is the main HVAC equipment that you are offering in a proposal (Example: Air Conditioner, Air Handler, Heatpump, Evaporator coil...etc).

FlexJob

These flexible packages can be used for anything from a simple service to a very complex commercial job. You can Include or Recommend them to effectively offer additional value to your customers.

Accessories

Accessories are any additional items outside of equipment that you want to have a picture and a detailed description for. The most common items are Thermostats, Air Quality Devices, Heater Kits, Maintenance Plans or Service Agreements, and any additional services you may offer (Ex. Duct Cleaning). Accessories can be included or recommended on a presented proposal.

Installation Items

Installation items are the additional line items or job tasks that go into the proposal. Some dealers refer to the installation items as the "scope of work". Installation items do not have pictures and just show up as a line item on a customer's proposal. Some common examples are:

  • (Company Name) will maintain a clean work area

  • (Company Name) will furnish and install pad, whip, and disconnect

  • (Company Name) will install a new disconnect switch

  • (Company Name) will adjust refrigerant charge after installation of the refrigerant line sets
