Scenario

You are quoting a standard residential replacement, but you want to recommend some custom work, like enhancing the ductwork in the home or perhaps replacing the air vents.

We'll use "base" FlexJob that describes the general Ductwork job, but customize it on the fly based on the needs of that home.

Video

Take a look at the video below for a walk through, and then you can follow the steps in the article that follows.

Develop your Strategy

First, decide how you want to describe a general ductwork job, and define if there are common costs that are basic to any ductwork job.

Remember, in this case you'll build a very generic job in the Office, which will be customized by the consultant when quoting the actual job.

Setup the FlexJob

Note: you can reference the Starter Catalog FlexJob Code OCA-0209 to save some time. But remember to include the products as the Starter Catalog does not include any products.

As an admin, you'll create a FlexJob as follows:

  1. Go to the Office -> FlexJobs menu

  2. Click button to Create a new FlexJob

Now create the FlexJob:

  1. Categorize it so it's easy to find: HVAC Service & Repair -> Ductwork

  2. Give it a customer-friendly name, e.g., "Air Ninjas Residential Ductwork Enhancement"

  3. Write the Description and Features in a way that your customer will understand, and emphasize the unique work and qualifications that you and your team have to do this installation.

  4. Attach a hero image [link: see ready to use images here]. The hero image can be a version of the product that you obtained from your supplier, or it can be a more general example of an air quality.

  5. You do not need to include any products in this FlexJob, as the products are quoted as a material cost when the consultant builds the job.

  6. Add Notes for your team, which will be visible in the Inspector for your admin and/or technicians

  7. Set the Pricing as your base cost, as most of the actual cost will be specified when building the quote.

Quote -- and win -- the Job

Once the FlexJob is in your catalog, your team can build the replacement HVAC quote, and then choose to Recommend the appropriate Ductwork job in the Proposals section:

  1. Build the Quote and go to Proposals

  2. Add your offers for the Replacement system

  3. Then go to the FlexJob tab and search of "Ductwork"

  4. Then click on the "Customize" button to describe the work, add labor and material costs.

  5. Finally, you can click on "Recommend All" to recommend the job!

Of course, if you just wanted to present the Ductwork as its own job, you can also include it by itself as a proposal option.
