With FlexJob, you can quote any type of job, not just residential HVAC services. In this example, we'll build a simplified quote for a light commercial rooftop packaged unit.

Develop your Strategy

Think about the key installation process that you want to make sure you differentiate your installation of a generator from the competition. These are the items you'll want to emphasize on your quote.

Setup the FlexJob

Note: you can reference the Starter Catalog FlexJob Code OCA-0032 "Commercial Rooftop Packaged AC Installation" to save some time.

As an admin, you'll create a unique FlexJob for the installation of a Packaged Rooftop Unit. The key FlexJob Components should be:

  1. Give a descriptive name to the FlexJob, that ideally includes your company brand, e.g., "The Air Ninjas Commercial Packaged System Installation"

  2. Categorize the FlexJob: Commercial HVAC -> Packaged Outdoor

  3. Write the Description and Features in a way that your customer will understand, and emphasize the unique work and qualifications that you and your team have to do this installation.

  4. Attach a hero image (get some images here). The hero image can be a version of the product that you obtained from your supplier, or it can be a more general example of a packaged installation.

  5. Make sure the model for Packaged Unit -- and any associated products or accessories -- are already available in your OnCall Air Accessories or Equipment categories. NOTE: if it doesn't already exist, make sure you add it as an Accessory first, as this will make it available to the FlexJob.

  6. Include the Packaged Unit product in the "Products" section

  7. Include any Accessories that go along with the Packaged Unit and/or installation

  8. Include any key Installation Items that address various aspects of the installation -- these will tailor the job even further to showcase your unique services.

  9. Add Notes for your team, which will be visible in the Inspector for your admin and/or technicians.

  10. Get the Pricing right by estimating the labor required for a generator installation, as well as pricing out the material required separate from the products. Remember that the pricing can be further customized during the job quoting process to account for any unique requirements -- also, admin users can always set up a Retain Price override to control the costs of any included products.

Now, you may need to create a variety of FlexJobs for the different capacities that are most common. You can use the "Clone" feature to make a copy of this FlexJob, and then replace the product(s), name, and description where needed.

Quote -- and win -- the Job

Your team can now quote the Commercial Rooftop installation as a proposal option, either on its own or in comparison to other options.

If the job requires some additional work, it can be always be further customized on the fly prior to presenting the proposal to the customer.
