Scenario

Mini-splits are on the rise. There are always new combinations of models added by the manufacturers to increase efficiency.

In this case, we will explore one of the latest combinations: Hybrid Heat Pump outdoor unit with a Fan Coil.

Develop your Strategy

There are two main strategies you can apply:

Strategy A. Your combinations are built ahead of time. Your effort is primarily about training your team to select the right package for the capacity.

Advantage:

  • Full control over the service price and quality.

Disadvantage:

  • The upfront time investment to build out each package in the office.

Strategy B. You only build one basic package. Your team will alter/customize the basic package based on the individual customer's needs.

Advantage:

  • Minimal upfront effort to build packages in the office.

  • Maximum personalization opportunity on every job.

Disadvantage:

  • You cannot use FlexJob Price Override.

  • Your team needs to be well-trained.

Setup the FlexJob

πŸ—‚ Step 1: Categorize

As an admin, you'll create a FlexJob for Outdoor Ductless + Air Handler system.

Put anything you want in the name since later you can personalize the job title for a specific customer.

For this example, we will select a Ductless subcategory inside the Residential Heating and Cooling category, but you can choose anything that makes more sense to your team. Remember, you can have specific category-based pricing set up as needed!

The top section can look something like this:

πŸ“Έ Step 2: Visualize

Now let's add some descriptions that will show up on the proposal. These should be created to emphasize the unique work and capabilities of your company and be kept simple so that they can apply to a wider range of situations.

Here is an example:

This article explains how to use the OnCall Air Image Catalog built specifically for you. Better yet, include the photos of your own team successfully installing the ductless system!

🍱 Step 3: Organize

Now it's time to pack this job with physical goods for maximum value!

We will need to add all pieces of equipment, accessories, and installation items that have to go into this job.

This is where your developed strategy comes into play.

If you selected Strategy A. and are rebuilding all variations upfront, then select the

Outdoor Unit and the Air Handler specific to the capacity of the job you are building.

For example, here we are building a 12K BTU combo with a thermostat and some part and materials guarantees. The equipment portion comes from the 'Add Products' button and the guarantees from 'Add Installation':

With Strategy B. this section can be left empty since my team will select everything they need when building a proposal.

πŸ’² Step 4: Price

To price the value you are providing to the customer is rather easy. You control your pricing in one place inside the FlexJob Pricing Settings. Optionally, you can drill your pricing inputs down to the Residential Category.

It's important to remind that if you intend to use Strategy B. you cannot use the Price Override option. Any jobs that have price override are 'locked' from being customized with new products or installation items when building a proposal [read more].
