The rest of this article explains important details about how to work with the Porch Warranty service.

Selling the Warranty

There are two ways to offer the Warranty: (a) bundle in your quote, or (b) offer as an optional recommendation.

Strategy A. Bundle in your Quote (recommended)

When building a proposal, the Warranty is available as an Accessory, under the Services category. By including the Warranty, it will be priced automatically into your quote:

Strategy B. Optional Recommendation

Alternatively, you can leave it as a recommendation that your customer can opt into:

Deciding on a Strategy

The choice of how to offer the Warranty is up to you, and you can alter the strategy at any time, or depending on the customer.

Typically, the success (conversion) rate of using the Bundled strategy will result in higher sales of the warranty, given that it's pre-set in your quote. This also allows you to position the warranty as a differentiator for your services.

Note that with this strategy, if your customer chooses to opt out of the warranty, you can also edit the quote and remove it.

Register the Sold Warranty with OCA

Once your customer has accepted a quote that includes a Porch Warranty (either sold as part of a system or as an optional recommendation), you'll need to make sure you register the warranty in a timely manner.

Please be sure to review the requirements in your Porch reseller agreement carefully to make sure you are in compliance with their requirements.

The warranty can only be registered once the installation is complete, as the serial number of the exact equipment is required.

As a reminder, you'll receive an email from OnCall Air identifying any warranties that were sold the prior day. The email includes a link to make it easy to register the warranty.

Clicking on the link takes you to the Warranty Registration form, which can also be accessed directly at www.oncallair.com/register_warranty.

The form asks for information related to the Customer, your Business, and the specific Warranty and Equipment sold.

The registration form optionally allows you to pre-populate fields based on the consultation code and customer zip code.

An example of the form is below:

Once you have completed all the information and reviewed carefully, please review the billing acceptance and submit the form.

An example of this acceptance is below:

Once you submit the registration, you'll also receive a confirmation email, like this:

Receive Registered Warranty Documents from Porch

Once you've registered your warranty, it will take between 2 to 4 business days for Porch to process and send you and your customer confirmation information.

An example of the information that is sent to the homeowner -- and copied to the contractor -- is included below. This email packet offers the homeowner all the information they need in case of a claim:

Billing for the Warranty

When you register a sold warranty, you are also authorizing OnCall Air to bill you for the cost of the Warranty.

OnCall Air uses the same billing mechanism and card on file that is used to pay for your software subscription. This reduces the time and hassle of entering a new payment method on each warranty sale.

You'll be automatically billed for any warranties offered every 7 days. For example, if you sold 3 warranties in the prior 7 day period, OnCall Air will charge your card on file for 3x your cost of the Warranty on the 7th day.
