One of the key strengths of the FlexJob feature is to expand how you use OnCall Air for a variety of scenarios that can broaden your business.

This is the case with Insulation, and we'll use this recipe to illustrate a few ways that you can use the FlexJob feature to increase your revenue per job while diversifying the services you offer.

We'll also use an example from our partners at Owens Corning, using their ProCat product as a great combination with OnCall Air.

(See our video companion below for a walkthrough of the content in this article)

Multiple Business Scenarios

So before we dive into the recipe, in what scenarios might it make sense to offer Insulation to your customer?

1. Job Differentiator - You can include insulation as part of a proposal option, to show your customer the difference in your approach from other contractors.

2. Retouch Offer - You can offer a "stand-alone" quote for Insulation to a customer that may not need an HVAC replacement (or perhaps they already did that work previously). This can help you smooth out the seasonal swings in your business, while also offering valuable services to your customer.

3. Recommendation - Finally, you can also offer the Insulation job as a custom recommendation. This is the best of both worlds, as you can put your customer in control. And with OnCall Air's financing breakout capability, they can see how cost-effective the recommendation could be.

Why FlexJob

FlexJob has unique features that make it ideal for presenting an Insulation Job:

  1. Customization - A FlexJob can be highly customized "on the fly" while you're building the quote. This allows you to build a standard FlexJob once, but then adjust the pricing, information, and products included based on the requirements for that specific home. This is critical when quoting something with variable costs like attic insulation.

  2. Presentation - A FlexJob allows you to show off the work with more photos and better descriptions that highlight not just the product, but just as importantly, the unique service you offer.

  3. Flexibility - With a FlexJob, you can include the work as part of your quote, recommend it, and/or include it as a standalone option, as well. So, you have the ultimate flexibility to quote the job quickly! Well, we named it FlexJob for a reason. πŸ˜‰

Why Owens Corning

Most of what you'll see here applies to any product you want to customize and quote, but we chose to partner with Owens Corning for this example as they provide industry-leading products and services for HVAC contractors.

Video Walkthrough

Check out the video below for a demonstration of how you can use FlexJob for this type of job:

Getting Started - Previewing the FlexJob

The first step to using FlexJobs to offer an Insulation product is to build the FlexJob itself in the Office. Remember, the goal is to only build one "base" FlexJob, which can then be customized by you or your consultant in the App when building an actual proposal.

Before you build the FlexJob in the Office, it's useful to be familiar with what a FlexJob looks like when it's presented. This will help you better understand how to build the job in the Office.

Side-by-Side Options

There are various ways to suggest Insulation. In this example, we'll show a variety of ways to include an Insulation job in a single consultation:

1 - Include the Insulation work as part of the HVAC job.

2 - Include it as an optional recommendation

3 - Quote Insulation as a stand-alone job

4 - Apply financing options to show affordability

The above are just examples, but understanding these will help you think about how to create the FlexJob in the Office.

The next screen shows some examples of how the job itself is presented to the customer:

Let's walk through the different sections:

1 - Images. Use images that your customer can click on to learn more about the job, These could come from our standard catalog (see below) or can be examples from jobs you've done in the past

2 - Videos. Embed the Owens Corning video, as an example, as this will help your customer see the value of the job

3 - Clear Benefits. Make sure you emphasize the benefits of the insulation in clear bullet points and use bolding to emphasize key points

4 - Your Brand. Also, be sure to tell your customer all the work that you do, so they understand what goes into a quality job. In this example, the contractor's name is "Air Champion", but it's important to use your company brand to emphasize your unique value!

5 - Customization. A key section to point out to your customer is the personalization of the quote. The "Additional Information" is the part that is unique to that specific job, and is added during the quoting process. The rest of the information is just set up once in the Office.

Below, you'll see an example of a FlexJob built specifically to offer the Owens Corning ProCat product. You can use the same content in your FlexJobs, or tailor it to meet your needs.

Office - Build the FlexJob (Admins)

Now that you have a good understanding of what a FlexJob looks like, you can begin work on your own. We've included the sample text and assets that you can copy and paste into the Office when you create your FlexJob.

Remember, you don't have to use any of this content, but it can help you get started and make your job look professional. Be sure to read it carefully and customize the text with your branding and with your services.

For building the pricing, we recommend keeping the base costs relatively simple and working on a process for customizing the pricing with your team. Admins can always utilize the retain price override option to ensure any included products keep their overriden pricing. An alternative is to build maybe 3 or 4 variations of these jobs (using the handy "clone" feature) for differently-sized homes. This way your team doesn't need to customize most jobs.

Including in a Proposal

There are multiple ways to include a FlexJob in a proposal:

  1. Include it as part of a proposal. For instance, you can drag a system into a proposal option, and then click to Include the FlexJob which will add it to that same option.

  2. You can also click to Recommend the FlexJob which makes it an optional add-on item.

  3. And you can Include it by itself on a proposal option if you want to give your customer the option to only do the insulation work.

  4. And it's really important to remember to CUSTOMIZE the FlexJob, if necessary, BEFORE you add it to any proposal option.

Once you're done adding, you can go ahead and present it...and win that job!

Assets and Sample Copy for FlexJob

These are the assets used to build the sample FlexJob. You can repurpose any of these assets for your own, but please be sure to review and adjust any wording as necessary for your company and process.
