About Porch HVAC Extended Labor Warranty
Answers provided by Porch updated June 10, 2024
What is Porch HVAC Extended Labor Warranty?
The Extended Labor Warranty is offered by Porch, a publicly traded company that provides software and services to more than 30,000 home services companies. Porch has over 30 years of warranty experience and manages more than 100,000 customer contracts nationally.
The HVAC Extended Labor Warranty (ELW) was developed to meet the specific needs of HVAC contractors and homeowners. It offers a supplemental warranty to cover specific labor costs that are not covered by the standard manufacturer’s warranty. Many homeowners are not aware that if something is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, the labor costs are typically not, and this is an extra cost for the homeowner. For less than $75 a YEAR, the homeowner will have peace of mind in case the unexpected happens.
This unique warranty product is offered exclusively in partnership with OnCall Air. Providing Extended Labor Warranty coverage for your customers provides you with:
Financial protection from complaints and warranty claims
Future revenue streams when repairs are required
The opportunity to offer annual maintenance which is a requirement for coverage

What are the specific labor hour allowances by type of job?
Please see the labor allowance chart for a guideline on the most common types of jobs.
Porch will evaluate all claim hours, based on job type. We highly recommend the contractor or homeowner get approval on what is covered before any work is performed, if possible.

Quoting and Registering the Warranty
Can I markup the cost of the warranty?

Does the warranty need to be optional to the homeowner?
Yes, the product is always an optional coverage for the homeowner. We have found many homeowners love the peace of mind that comes with the 10-Year Extended Labor Warranty and our preference is to include the Extended Labor Warranty in all quotes. If a customer does not want the coverage, it should be removed from their proposal.
Here are some helpful tips to explain the benefits of an Extended Labor Warranty.
- Many homeowners are not aware that if something is covered by the manufactures warranty, the labor costs are not, and this is extra cost for the homeowner. For less than $75 a YEAR, the homeowner will have peace of mind in case the unexpected happens.
- The Extended Labor Warranty is a 10-year Warranty that covers the labor on required maintenance for the new HVAC unit.
Does the cost of the warranty need to be disclosed or itemized in the sale?
We recommend including the Extended Labor Warranty in all your proposals as a listed inclusion. In OnCall Air, the warranty is listed with the customer price and highlights the 10-year coverage. The price displayed to the Homeowner will be the price you are charging for the Extended Labor Warranty.
Use Autopilot rules to include or recommend Extended Labor Warranties in every quote. Watch the ToolTip video to see how or read the Help Article.
Is this Warranty transferable by the homeowner if they sell the house?
Yes, the warranty can be transferred to a new homeowner once within the 10-year term. The homeowner would need to contact Porch to change ownership of the warranty.
Can the Homeowner cancel the warranty?
Yes, the homeowner can cancel at any time by contacting Porch. Porch will provide the homeowner with a pro-rated refund. If the customer cancels within the first 30 days of enrollment they will receive a 100% refund.
Can I offer a warranty if I've already installed the new system?
Yes, Contractors can offer to add the Porch Extended Labor Warranty up to 6 months after installation. The homeowner’s coverage would begin 91 days after they enroll in the warranty.
Claims Process
How are claims submitted?
Our claims process is quite simple. Once you've gone out to the customers home and diagnosed the problem you will be able to call Porch’s contact number (877-814-2479), or submit via email extendedlabor@porchwarranty.com.
We request an itemized invoice breaking out the parts, labor and service call fees as well as the description of the issue and the cause of failure. We evaluate each claim and provide approval from there. If there are any specific questions about the claim we will reach out to you directly for clarification so we can finalize the claims as quickly as possible.
What is required to file a claim?
Claims are filed following these steps:
Description of what the issues are and the cause of failure.
An itemized invoice of estimate of parts, labor and service call fee. The invoice must be from licensed and insured contractor.
Confirmation if this is covered under Manufacturer warranty (for parts)
because of the extra part allowance, the homeowner should check if the parts are covered under the Manufacturers warranty.
Could my customer potentially go to another HVAC Contractor to get work done with this labor warranty that I sold them?
Porch requires the use of the installing contractor and may only provide a different contractor in the event the installing contractor is unable to perform repairs due to no longer being in business, death, prolonged illness, or any other preventative circumstance. Any contractor except the installing contractor must be approved prior to commencing repairs/replacements as necessary for any covered repair.
How much time does it take to process the claim?
Once Porch receives all required documentation (see 5.2), the claim will be processed within 72 business hours.
How will I be paid once the claim is processed?
Once the claim is submitted and approved, the check is cut the following Friday.
Porch will reimburse the Contractor or the homeowner, depending on how the repair was handled/paid for.

- On Week 1, Monday – Claim is made
- On Week 1, Wednesday – Claim is approved
